Giselle Ruemke, MA, RCC
Registered Clinical Counsellor
COVID-19 response: In response to the ongoing public health emergency I am currently exclusively working via telehealth.
Please note that I am currently not accepting new clients.
Welcome! You are at the threshold of an important step in your life journey. This work is powerful, and it can provide the opportunity to create clarity, find one's footing, heal emotional pain, strengthen one's connection with self and others, and accomplish the kind of change that life requires of us, while making the most of the opportunities present at this time.
I believe deeply in the inherent human capacity for healing, authentic expression, and self development. My role is to connect with you and support you in applying your natural strengths and abilities to move toward your goals, whether they are to chart a path through difficult times, heal the heart, deepen self knowledge, or to strengthen your connection to inspiration, vitality and fulfillment in life. Whatever your goals are, I would be honoured to walk with you on your path towards them.

I am registered with BC's Crime Victim Assistance Program, the First Nations Health Authority's mental health program, and the ICBC Rehabilitation Department. Also, my services as a registered clinical counsellor may be covered in full or in part by your health insurance or employee benefit plan.
Please contact me if you would like to meet for a ½ hour free counselling orientation. I would love to collaborate with you in your work in the areas below, and more.

About Me
Hello! Thank you for stopping by to read a little about me. I have lived in Victoria for most of my life, and while I may travel, I feel I'll always choose this place for my home.
Since I was small, I have always been interested in understanding what makes us "tick," in alleviating suffering, finding meaning, and connecting with others. This has made counselling a natural choice for my career.
Experience
I have a background in working with youth at risk, seniors, people with chronic illness and disabilities, and survivors of trauma and abuse. All of this has taught me much about how our contextual cultural and socioeconomic systems can influence our lives, as well as about the incredible power of human strength and resilience.
In addition to counselling here at Heart of the Matter, I teach Kundalini Yoga and Meditation, and work at Victoria Hospice to provide counselling to palliative patients and their loved ones.
